Project Title: Countdown country collaborations to generate evidence and strengthen capacity in the context of scaling up for women's, children's and adolescents' health in Tanzania

Project Description: Two year collaboration in countries supported by the global Financing Facility (GFF) between Countdown to 2030 (CD2030) academic global/regional institution(s) and country academics/public health institutions, in close collaboration with Ministry of Health, National Bureau of Statistics,GFF, WHO,UNICEF and other relevant actors focusing on analysis and synthesis of all health data.CD2030 is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The country collaboration team will include Ifakara Health Institute as the lead institution, The Ministry of Health and relevant RMNCAH+N stakeholders in Tanzania. The University of Manitoba will contribute to and guide the analytical work, and be responsible for reviewing and approving all technical deliverables/outputs. In addition, the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) will provide support for data analysis. The team will comprise Dr.Honorati Masanja as a lead, Josephine Shabani as a coordinator and data analyst, Dr. Ester Elisaria as M&E specialist all from Ifakara Health Institute. The IHI team will work closely with the Ministry of Health, especially (RMNCAH +N program officers, health system/planning division including health information system); National Bureau of Statistical Office; Ministry of Finance, Local government the liaison officer from the GFF and WHO. The University of Manitoba will contribute to and will be in charge of technical supervision and guidance. The African Population Health Research Centre (APHRC) will be in charge of the financial and administrative management for the current sub-agreement.APHRC will disburse funds to the country lead institution and review all financial reports. In additional, APHRC will provide support for data analysis. All core members of the team (IHI, MOH,GFF, APHRC and UoM) will have a least one quarter meeting (in person or by conference call) to discuss progress and identify priorities Objectives The aim of this collaboration which will run for an initial period of 2 years, is to strengthen the evidence generation for regular reviews of progress and performance of the Reproductive, Maternal, New-born, Child Adolescent and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) program, related to the national overall and program specific health plan and GFF investment case. The collaboration will build on the established working relationship between Ifakara Health Institute, The Countdown, the Ministry and other relevant partners such as WHO, World Bank and UNICEF. The joint work on the analytical report for the HSSP IV midterm review for 2015/2016-2019-2020 is already a great start.
